Lots of memories of Liz & Goldsmiths

I have known Liz since 1980, whilst I was an undergraduate at Goldsmith. Liz was the friendly Psychology Technician - she was young, vibrant and fun and this was the start of a long friendship. I left Goldsmiths in 1983 but returned in 1995 as a Researcher and re-established my relationship with Liz.

Liz was a warm, friendly woman, she oozed charm and everyone liked her. She was so caring with students & always wanted to help them out. If you were stuck with certain things, e.g. finding references, photocopying etc – Liz would help. She was such good person and very caring when many of the academics were not so approachable and not quite as caring.

We became good friends and met up with Sharon Howard then (another psychology student) and would often meet on Fridays for drinks down the Hobgoblin in New Cross.

I remember our Christmas parties at Goldsmiths which were great until the admin staff put a stop to us having them in the department. Anyway we decided to have an alternative Christmas party anyway - in the corridor of the Whitehead Building, and Liz helped of course with the organisation!

Liz’s May BBQs at her home were also a hit and like many I remember them well. Meeting her dogs, owls and kids was wonderful.

Liz , Sharon and I became Friday night drinking partners, first at the Hobgoblin and then the Walpole. We celebrated her 60th in 2011 at the Hobgoblin – another great evening. She will be remembered for her love of animals, socialising, fun and friendliness. We loved her dearly and the world is emptier place without her.
